DROUIN/OLSEN is an avant-garde sound project focused on quiet volumes, silence, and the interaction of delicate, improvised sounds drawn from amplified gestures and electrical tones. A collaboration started in 2001 between Victoria, BC artists Jamie Drouin and Lance Austin Olsen, DROUIN/OLSEN is widely respected by international audiences and music reviewers.
Lance Austin Olsen (b.1943)
Olsen employs a collection of unassuming objects, amplified copper plates, and floor guitar, to examine themes of sensory memory and shifting muscular movements.
Jamie Drouin (b. 1970)
Drouin’s modest ensemble of electronics, combined with a portable radio, aim to mimic the subtle electrical noises which form the backdrop to contemporary environments.
