ARTIFACT projects us into the not-so-distant future, when our forests have been depleted, and wood has become a scarce and priceless relic of a bygone age. Common pieces of found driftwood are presented and documented in the same manner as museum antiquities or cultural objects. The fragments are a warning of the current trajectory of forestry industries, and their messaging that our natural resources are more valuable transformed into cedar shingles or stove pellets, than to continue functioning as ecosystem components critical to our biological survival.
