The concrete shelters on the Isle of Lewis appear so seldom as to almost seem mirages in the landscape. Designed in 1979/1980 to offer protection from wind and rain, regardless of the direction or severity, these distinctive modern forms also propose visual echoes of nearby domestic structures and natural land features.
